Devmountain is a coding bootcamp that offers short, full-time in-person and online programs in Web Development, Software Quality Assurance (QA), Cybersecurity, and User Experience (UX) Design. The programs are designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the tech industry. There is a Devmountain campus in Lehi, Utah for those who want to participate in-person. Devmountain's immersive courses require 40 hours of class per week, and 10-20 hours of work outside of the classroom. The part-time programs require 11 hours of class per week, and 10-20 hours of work outside of the classroom. The school was started in 2013 in Provo, Utah.

The Web Development track covers front-end and back-end engineering (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, AJAX, Axios, React, Bootstrap, Node.js, Express, and PostgreSQL). The User Experience course covers prototyping, visual/motion design, Figma, UX research, and  wireframing. Devmountain instructors are all coding industry professionals and aim to bring real-world applications into the classroom.

Devmountain is beginner-friendly and no experience is necessary to apply. The first step to applying for Devmountain bootcamp is to check out the courses and start dates. Once the student has picked a course, they must submit an online application. Next, students speak with a member of the admissions team by phone to further discuss the program. After the phone call, students must complete a challenge to ensure the program is a good fit. Finally, the admissions team will notify students if they qualify for acceptance.

    Exciting, interesting, and fast-paced.

Many bootcamps offer the same good things. In that sense, Devmountain is like any other: Good way to jumpstart a career in some type of tech field. What makes Devmountain stand out and why did I choose it over one of it's competitors? A) Value. B) In-person. C) Compact
I almost didn't sign up for a bootcamp and wanted to do it myself with online courses. I couldn't really justify a remote camp because why not just do it through udemy otherwise? So I wanted something I could attend in ...

Great opportunity to learn new skills and restart your career

Devmountain's part-time web development course has been an ideal choice for me, enabling a seamless transition back into the workforce while managing motherhood. The Part Time web development course strikes a perfect balance between acquiring new skills and fulfilling childcare duties. With supportive staff, practical learning tools like monitors, and interactive whiteboarding sessions, my experience has been exceptional. These resources, along with the hands-on approach and dedicated pr...

    Intense, fun, worthwhile

After completing Devmountain's Coding Basics course, I promptly enrolled in the 16-week full time React Web Development Boot Camp. I knew of people who had taken this specific course and obtained employment immediately post-graduation. I come from a long career in healthcare with no prior coding knowledge prior to enrolling at Devmountain and, although it was difficult to fully grasp the concepts, the instructors were extremely patient, available, and helpful to ensure I would complete e...

    The Best Kind Of Education

My experience at DevMountain was extremely positive. As someone who always struggled to learn in standardized education, I was hesitant to try an accelerated course like the one offered at DevMountain. I am so glad I made the decision to push past my fears and give it my all. I wouldn't trade my time at DevMountain for anything.

    A good decision

I really enjoyed attending DevMountain. Personally, I felt like the structure of things were much better in the first half, and that the online content during specs did not match super well with projects, but I am still glad that I did it. My main critique would be that for the portion that was online and without a dedicated instructor, if the videos followed course material that they were made for it would have been much better. It was hard for me to know what things were going to be ap...

    Dear Caleb,
We appreciate your thoughtful feedback on your overall bootcamp experience learning programming foundations with a Python specialization. The specialization portion can strike that uncertain balance between project work and picking/leveraging materials and mentor support, and your recommendation for enhancing alignment of our online learning resources with course materials is helpful. Our instructional staff is always striving to make the most of time in courses for our students, recognizing that everyone learns a little differently, whether in person or online. We may not have planned on such extensive remote learning when we started—our origins are in-person coding bootcamps (which we've recently been reintroducing!)—yet the combination of live/online instruction and asynchronous learning we had to develop in 2020 has helped us take our mission and values to more students. There's undoubtedly room to grow and keep evolving to best match a wider range of learning styles. I have shared your review with the team and thank you again. As always, we hope our graduates stay in touch with their Devmountain contacts. Keep us posted on progress or reach out to ask questions as you continue to learn and explore and as you apply for jobs.

Hi John! We never tire of hearing about the friendships made in Devmountain bootcamps as cohorts learn and grow together. That community learning together in an intensive, structured educational setting is a big part of why we were founded. And, of course, we agree that our instructors are amazing and appreciate you for mentioning them in your review. Please keep us in the loop on your future progress as you continue to learn and develop professionally.

    amazing, challenging, helpful, and fun

DevMountain was an amazing experience. I went into it already knowing how to code and came out learning knew things and even grasping old concepts better than ever. I built projects I never would have tried before. The Instructors and mentors were very helpful with projects and course work. This bootcamp was definitely an amazing experience

Lindsay—Thank you so much for sharing your unique experience and perspective. Specifically, we appreciate the nod to our instructors and mentors. They do work hard to provide a valuable experience for everyone! To that point, I've often heard them describe the range of backgrounds and expertise often mixed into a bootcamp; I am pleased to hear that even with your coding ability you still took something away from the course. The idea of better grasping concepts already in your toolbox makes a lot of sense...taking time to relearn, give attention to, or just repeat and practice these things can certainly help solidify them in your mind. Point well made. Also love hearing that you tackled some new projects. Thank you again for the feedback here. If you have thoughts for improving the curriculum or other aspects of our courses, please stay in touch with your existing contacts at Devmountain or message marketing@devmountain.com.

Wow! Where to even begin? First, we cannot thank you enough for this comprehensive review of your Devmountain Python bootcamp experience. You offered a lot of practical advice and name-dropped some of our favorite instructors and mentors, which is always fun to see and much appreciated.

Every learner is different and brings a unique set of circumstances, yet we hope others will find inspiration in your drive to take control of your learning and work with our counselors to set up an ideal environment and schedule within which you were able to thrive. While not everyone will have the flexibility, say, to shift from part-time to full-time, we do encourage all students to work closely with their instructors, counselors, and peers to make the most of their time and shape the experience to their learning style to the extent practical. You're right to suggest your experience won't work for everyone and, at the end of the day, bootcamps are intensive learning environments that require a lot of focus and personal accountability, but we do try to help everyone along as best we can while managing the needs of the whole cohort. All this is to say that the differences between full-time and part-time you bring to light are very real, and we hope to be able to offer the right pace for people's circumstances.

We also cannot say enough about our incredible Outcomes team and are pleased that you took a moment to share your appreciation for their work.

Though there is so much to talk about in your review, the last point we'll react to is your comment in bold about making friends. While individuals come to Devmountain to learn to code, the people that you meet are a hugely important and sometimes overlooked part of the experience. Yes, we take pride in our education staff, but your peers in the cohort can become part of a lifelong network and even close friends who can not only help during bootcamp, but become advocates for your success after graduation.

We wish you all the best in your continued learning and career growth. Please stay in touch.

We so much appreciate these incredibly kind words and hope that you are finding success in your pursuit of a tech career. It is, of course, a stated goal of ours to prepare learners from all backgrounds with the coding foundations needed to launch a career. This goal is why our founders launched the bootcamp and why we work so hard to continually fine tune our curricula to ensure graduates are meeting the needs of prospective employers. And whether or not students access or utilize our Outcomes for career support, it's all about building those foundations that can change lives. Again, we hope you are doing well. Please stay in touch with your existing contacts at Devmountain or if you wish to start a new conversation, feel free to reach out marketing@devmountain.com.

    Empowering, Helpful, Affordable, Career-Support

I'll just start out by saying, I really love Devmountain. The tuition is about $10K where most other bootcamps I looked into were around $13-15K starting. I loved every bit of the Foundations half of the program. You get to build a full-stack application! The curriculum is very well laid out, and I had a lot of resources available to me. There was tons of help available to me, and my instructors/TAs were outrageously helpful.

At first, I hated the format of the Specializations ha...

Thank you for taking time to share a summary of your experience at Devmountain and for the feedback you provided along the way and in this review. Our instructors do strive to respond to feedback and provide as catered an experience as practical within the curriculum to ensure students get the most out of their education, but just as important you've pointed to opportunities to build in additional or alternative material moving forward. We do take these recommendations seriously.

For example, others have expressed a similar concern about the transition from Foundations to Specializations. It is indeed our sincere hope that the intensity of the Foundations portion builds and fortifies that learner's mindset to adapt to the change quickly and be able to apply technical and problem-solving skills to tackling the material. Thank you mentioning that! Of course, everyone learns differently so it is so important for students to take full advantage of the educations staff (and, later, the career support Outcomes team) while learning, to ask questions, build in checkpoints and motivation, or whatever is needed to learn effectively.

Lastly, you're right about the cost. Access and affordability are important features of our program, but we also pair that with all the instructor and Outcomes support you mentioned. We hope that you are finding success in your pursuit of a career in tech and that you'll stay in touch on LinkedIn.

    Great Experience at DevMountain

I had a great experience at Devmountain. I moved to Lehi, UT in November of 2021 to attend in person. I am glad I did so. I met lots of good people both staff and student. The program starts with 8 weeks of Foundations for everyone coming in and then is followed by 8 weeks of Specializations. In Foundations you are learning in person with an instructor and it is very structured. You will have instruction in the morning, lab in the afternoon and a review after that. This is such a thoughtful and humbling review of our course. Thank you so much for taking the time to post it, for taking the leap to enroll in bootcamp, and especially for joining us in-person. While we continue to offer remote, online education to students from all over the world, our in-person bootcamp experience remains close to our heart for the real-life collaboration and advantages it can offer certain learners and learning styles—so your kind words are very welcome.

Of course, you have called out a dimension of some of our curricula, namely the asynchronous learning via Udemy once entering the Specialization phase. We hope that shift doesn't come as a surprise, but know it takes some time for some students to adapt and we aim to be there to support that transition and continue to facilitate structure learning with accountability, even as you're asked to hold yourself more accountable. But you're right to point out the importance of taking full advantage of our staff, from the instructional team to Outcomes (aka career support) during your time in bootcamp and then as you're hitting the job market to pursue a career.

Lastly, we think your advice to come prepared is sound. While many of our students have never done any coding and we work hard to provide support and resources to keep the playing field level, it can indeed be very beneficial to come with a few foundations, whether that's Devmountain's quick four-week Coding Basics course to get a feel for coding and the bootcamp environment or, as you suggest, independent study via online resources or books to beginning getting into the programming mindset and developing a sense for the tools and "language," in general terms.

Anyhow, thanks again for your time and attention to detail in your review. We hope you are continuing to learn and thrive on your coding journey.
