Woz U is an EdTech enterprise that offers 33-week online software development, cybersecurity, and data science courses. Students will learn full stack development including HTML basics, CSS, Java, Javascript, and C#. The data science bootcamp covers tools such as Python, R, SQL, and NoSQL with Mongo and Node.JS. Woz U was founded by Steve Wozniak who, in 1977 with Steve Jobs, created the first personal computers at Apple. Woz U’s mission is to disrupt the current education model and create a new learning ecosystem to elevate human capital in technical careers. Woz U aims to revolutionize education by providing organizations with affordable technology curricula and training to offer to students and employees. Woz U's Education-as-a-Service business model is designed to help governments, schools and businesses sustain their ever-changing technical skill gaps and talent demands.
Woz U bootcamps are meant for students with no prior programming experience. The application process for all Woz U programs starts by filling out an online form, then a quick technical quiz.
Woz U graduates receive career service assistance to help guide them through the job placement process. Students and alumni will be given tips to help build their resume, improve their job search techniques, and to better prepare themselves for the interview process. In line with their belief that education should be affordable for all, Woz U provides a number of grant options for those who need it. They offer a financial literacy grant; a Hero Grant for military members, first responders, and their spouses; for all other students, they offer a Student Success Grant which provides financial assistance.
Please avoid this company at all cost! Within the first week I realized this school was nothing but bs. They steal curriculum from other free coding websites and sell it to you with absolutely no help learning the material at all. I asked multiple times to be removed school and the only response I got was scare tactics and manipulation. I was told by many people there that the second I signed my name I was committed to the loan in FULL. So regardless if i quit the first day or complete the course I would owe 100% of the loan. Which is not true! Later after finding my contract online re-reading my contract I could have but their financial person I spoke with dodged the question and even outright ignored phone calls and emails from me. After being scare and manipulate to just finish the course with the hopes I could get a decent job afterwards I finally graduated in 2018 and was told to contact the lady that help with finding jobs. Which basically ended up me sending about 5 email to her with NO response at all and after talking a supervisor I was told just to look on indeed. So here we are in the end off 2019 still no job a loan company harassing me for payment on a $12,220.34 loan I have no way of ever paying.
I love attending, and being apart of the Woz U class!! It has helped strengthen my skills, taught me a lot of coding, and developed my problem solving skills. The community is very helpful and kind. I have realized that sometimes I feel like there is a bit of disconnect between mentors and students, maybe it is just me. I sometimes feel as though I do not receive the help I need from my mentor and will instead have to reach out to fellow classmates. I am learning a lot and still succeeding...
