Yellow Tail Tech offers online AWS DevOps Engineer (44 weeks) and Linux System Administrator (24 weeks) bootcamps. Yellow Tail Tech is a hybrid e-learning program combining pre-recorded video instruction and online exercises with weekly live sessions tailored to fit the schedule of each cohort. Live sessions are typically held in the evenings to accommodate working professionals. Yellow Tail tech students should expect to spend 7 to 10 hours per week on bootcamp classes and activities.
AWS DevOps Engineer bootcamp students will learn to deploy a fault-tolerant and resilient web service architecture in AWS, monitor availability, simulate and test failure scenarios and recovery, and optimize cloud service infrastructure for cost and performance. Students will learn how to use Terraform to provision and configure AWS services in a global configuration, evaluate a cloud environment’s security vulnerabilities, and write code to automate tasks using AWS APIs and AWS Lambda.
Linux System Administrator bootcamp students will learn to install and configure OS and applications, deploy virtual machines, and perform user management tasks. Students will learn how to manage web servers, troubleshoot permission, performance and networking issues, and write bash scripts.
No prior technical experience is required to apply for either Yellow Tail Tech bootcamps. All prerequisites are built into the bootcamp curriculum designed for non-IT professionals. Yellow Tail Tech admits students based on a mutual fit selection process. Bootcamp acceptance is awarded following the required career strategy session, a 45 minute 1:1 Zoom call with a Yellow Tail Tech enrollment advisor.
Yellow Tail Tech bootcamp students may choose to enroll in an optional internship program. All bootcamp students will also receive individualized career coaching and mentoring.
Yellow Tail Tech offers a tuition reimbursement program. If bootcamp graduates don’t land a job within five months of internship completion, the full price of tuition will be reimbursed. In order to qualify for tuition reimbursement, bootcamp students must meet certain conditions including attending every live class session, completing all assignments, and scoring 70% or better on all tests. Yellow Tail Tech is a Maryland State WIOA Occupational Training provider and bootcamp students may qualify for state funding.

Getting that good firm foundation of understanding was helpful because now I'm in the cert prep program and it has not been easy, but it gave me a greater understanding. Sometimes you take courses and you don't really get what they're saying or you don't get the material and you're just being told just to constantly read, read, read, but this is more or less, hands-on. I'm more of a learner. I like to touch things and read at the same time. From day one, you download a Linux operating system and you're playing on it already. The hands-on is what's golden about it.
I enjoyed the Yellow Tail Tech program a lot. Looking back now, I can't believe it's been six months already, that's how much I've enjoyed it because usually, there’s a time when I've been in school before, in college and you’re just wondering, man when is this course going to end?
I just feel like every day with this course I'm learning something new and I don't really even want it to end. I'm like, look, I'm ready to sign off for the AWS course and take that side of it now or the soon-to-come engineering course that you're going to go into it.
The learning experience has been wonderful because I feel like I've learned a lot. I feel like I've absorbed a lot. I wish I could have taken even more advantage then I'll probably be a bit even further. I will recommend it to a lot of other people because like I said, it's hands-on. I don't think you can really beat doing hands-on versus just reading all the time and theorizing. You are really doing what you're going to do, and I think that's probably the best way to learn.

I absolutely loved the program. I still talk to probably at least 12 people in my actual cohort that I went through the program with. You're going to establish a lifelong kind of bond with these people going through, just this short period of time going through the program.
We go to class every week for two days out of the week. You're learning Linux probably six days out of that week. So two of those days you're instructed by your teacher and you go through the material ...I absolutely loved the program. I still talk to probably at least 12 people in my actual cohort that I went through the program with. You're going to establish a lifelong kind of bond with these people going through, just this short period of time going through the program.

Yellow Tail Tech also provided an internship platform for me once I successfully complete the course and pass the certification exams, unlike traditional schools which often pays attention to the academic terms with little or no emphasis made to provide job environment experiences after the program.
My instructors are also products of this IT online bootcamp who graduated from the same program I’m enrolled in. They came in with no background in IT but made it to the top from the IT online program. This motivates me to be successful in my IT career. They are extensively skillful, proficient, and down-to-earth with every student’s opinion and experiences, and always encourages collaborating and laying emphasis on working hard. I’ve had some trust issues because of my experience with other online schools but Yellow Tail Tech kept me going. They made sure that everything was well laid out. They made sure we never had issues and helped us out whenever something came up. I like the weekly review sessions, and I think we need to add more hours for it. The review sessions are optional so it's okay if you won’t join. The good thing about it is that all the classes are recorded so you can review them when you have spare time. Even the review sessions are recorded so you won’t miss anything. I think for me, I’m the number 1 fan of Yellow Tail Tech. I just love everything that they do, and of course, I would recommend them to anyone who’s ready to change to the next level.
