First of all, I have a great support system at home that allowed me to focus 100% on this course for 4 months. I was able to take a recourse to prepare me for the full-time program.
The first month was HARD. I thought I was going to give up. The assignments are fast, and I spent all of my free time studying. It was difficult not to compare where I stood to others in my class. At my toughest moment, I reached out to my Career Services Manager and my TA. They both helped encourage me and offer support when I needed them.
I would say the most important take-aways for those looking to join the bootcamp: Make sure you have a support system. Don't compare yourself to others in the class. Stay dedicated and find the motivation behind why you're doing this.
Coding Dojo has great resources throughout the course, that continue on for 6 months after you graduate. There is also an option to pay more for a yearly alumni pass.

Beyond the courses I have been impressed with the job placement staff at The Tech Academy.
I finished my short boot camp two years ago and their staff is still interested in helping me find a career. My own life events put a pause on my job search in the tech field shortly after finishing my boot camp and although that pause lasted months and months, their job placement staff is still ready to help me work on preparing to find that job. While the learning progression is rapid, the curriculum is well scaffolded to bring learners along. There is a strong focus on the soft skills required to work as a part of a modern development team as reinforced by projects and assignments in teams of various sizes. Turing's ability to impart soft skills was something I didn't fully appreciate until after I had worked in the industry a few years and was sitting on the other side of the interview table. Turing graduates are well prepared to talk-the-talk of a developer technically, proficient in live coding exercises, and able to articulate pieces of valuable, non-coding wisdom they will bring to a team.

Overall, the bootcamp is great - you learn a lot in a short amount of time. I would recommend a bootcamp if you are in a hurry to change careers. That being said, LHL is not responsible for the overarching job market / economic climate. When I graduated every tech giant was doing mass layoffs. Bear that in mind before making a decision. Nothing is guaranteed. After a total of 8 months (which includes 3months of bootcamp) i finally landed a junior dev role. And I was lucky. That being said, the support from career services was good. They help where they can. If I were to use an analogy: they are a passenger in the car you are driving. Is it worth the money? I'm not sure. I think that they do a lot of behind-the-scenes work that indirectly benefited me.
Overall, if you are passionate about tech and want to start your career, give it a go. Life is too short.
For curriculum I would prefer not spending a week on Ruby. I think the curriculum would be better served with an extra week with React or learning Typescript. Pivoting out of Javascript for a week didn't feel worth it to me. On top of that none of the TAs who picked up my request-tickets knew the language. The only fringe benefit of the Ruby week was that it was nice to see the MVC approach.

Last November I subbed for a guy at a theater who was leaving to take a coding bootcamp. I was like, wait, a what camp? You mean I can learn how to do this coding thing for real?
Last week I launched my app, built from the ground up in Java and Spring, with the things I learned from Coding Nomads. Feels great!
Coding Nomads has been great. I liked it so much that I started their Javascript course recently. Here's what the founder said about my capstone project: "Your capstone is among the best we've ever seen here at CodingNomads and we've worked with hundreds of students. So, job well done!"
My intention is not to leave pro audio, but I do see software development as my next career act. Ideally, I'd like to keep building Tracebook and SubAligner, while doing freelance development work for manufacturers, AV companies, and the live event industry.

I left the program feeling confident in my coding skills and having already accepted an offer with a starting salary nearly 60% higher than my previous job. I think NSS’s real competitive edge is 1) their wide network of employers who regularly hire from their programs and 2) the fact that they are a nonprofit. They really want you to succeed and get a great job, and they will do everything in their power to help you do it. Also, they want to do it as cheaply as possible, which is not the case with any other bootcamps I’ve seen. Great instructional teams, great career training, and great networking opportunities. This is a career launching program. Best decision of my life.
