Avocademy

This bootcamp has been the best decision I have ever made. The Foundations course is great for learning all the basics and applying the concepts to your project. The Carrer Jumpstart is an excellent program where you get to work on real-life projects and learn to be a good team player as a designer. The best part is the academy's support - they set you up for success. Design and career mentorship are always available and they are all super nice! I found a great job within 3 months of applying and I have to credit this to the amazing mentors and the program curriculum. 

after not getting a job with months and months of applying, they just kind of abandon you. they're realistic that you will need to apply to a ton of jobs--which I have, over 2k--but im not getting any interviews or offers or anything. i've expressed my disappointment and frustration, especially since i now have to pay 8k i don't have with a job i was supposedly going to get with this boot camp. it feels incredibly shitty to not only not have a job after all this hard work, but also now owe a ton of money because of false promises. 

I had high hopes for this program but it hasnt worked out for me. They screwed me over with not getting me the job guarantee that they advertise. They told me I didn't start the job search within a certain time even though it was out of my control because the projects were being delayed. Basically, you have to do things within a certain amount of time. But what happened when the client delays, or the mentor delays to approve your work. My job search gets delayed which meant I wouldn't get a job guarantee. They scammed me out of my money and didn't really care to be honest. 

Avocademy Review - May 2023
For some context, I started the course in May and I'm 70% of the way done. Here are my pros and cons:Pros:-Cheaper than average bootcamp price-video tutorials are easy to watch-while the grading is hard, it produces a strong end product for assignmentsCons:-The grading system is super annoying. You submit your work to a slack channel and a mentor will grade it and return it for revisions. When you resubmit the work, usually another mentor will grade it and return it again with their own opinions on what needs improvement. It's such a slow and inefficient process. Some of the mentors can be total snobs, too. I'd imagine this is what working for a really annoying group of clients feels like.Suggestions for Improvement:I think once you get assigned a mentor you should stick with that one till the assignment is approved. Also, it would be great if the tutorial for the lesson covers every little detail that the assignment is graded on, not just the general gist. Finally, more respect for students' time would be great. Don't be so nit picky on grading to the point that it delays our progress/delays us moving on to the next assignment (For example, I've been on the same assignment for a week with different mentors telling me I have different crucial issues with my assignment lol).In Summary:Avocademy is fine. It's not the godsend course they market it as but it's also not awful. It's more annoying than it needs to be but I think thats what most educational programs are like.

Avocademy exceeded my expectations. In the foundations part of the program, the curriculum provided a comprehensive overview of UX design principles, methodologies, and tools. The topics covered ranged from user research and wireframing to prototyping and usability testing. Complex concepts were broken down into understandable modules, making them accessible for beginners to follow. The course content was up-to-date, practical, and applicable to real-world design challenges.
They offered regular one-on-one mentorship sessions, allowing me to receive personalized feedback on my projects. The level of support provided throughout the program was excellent. I also valued the emphasis on hands-on experience. We had the opportunity to work on real-world projects, which helped us develop practical skills and build a strong portfolio. The projects were challenging yet manageable.
In addition, Avocademy provided job placement assistance such as resume reviews and interview preparation in their career jumpstart part of the program. Thanks to the guidance and resources from the program, I recently secured a job. The program equipped me with the necessary tools to succeed in the job search.

After doing lots of research on UX/UI design bootcamps, I chose to go with Avocademy. I am SO HAPPY I did! It was an amazing experience from start to finish, and I didn't have to spend thousands of dollars. I learned how to complete a project from start to finish, learned all the foundational skills for UX/ UI Design, and ended with a finished project added to a portfolio. One of the things I liked best was having access to mentor support whenever I needed it. Most bootcamps don't offer that, and it is so important. There is a lot to learn about in this field and it is nice to be able to get help from an expert when you have a question or are stuck on a design issue, etc. If you are looking to get into the field of UX/UI, I highly recommend Avocademy! 

I recently completed the UX/UI Design Foundations course with Avocademy and it was a great career change experience! With unlimited mentorship and flexibility, Avocademy offers the basics of UX/UI design to work on your first foundations project! The best part is definitely the mentorship! Many boot camps don't provide feedback or mentorship and Avocademy does just that! Mentor reviews are definitely needed for any boot camp! Job is not guaranteed but they do offer a Career Jumpstart program post foundations!
