SUMMERY

This is a great course for meeting like-minded students interested in web development and building a strong foundation. If you’re main goal is to get set up with a job (by the bootcamp) after course completion, you will be disappointed.  

 

THE GOOD

The instructors and TAs are knowledgeable and willing to help you when you get stuck

The instructors & career services will give you advice on how to make yourself marketable, make an appealing portfolio, and how to answer common interview questions.

THE BAD

You will need at least 20+ hours of outside work per week to understand the material as you go through the course. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but they tell you that you will only need 10 hours per week. That is simply untrue, even for the brightest students.

Hiring partners are virtually non-existent. Despite what they will keep telling you, there is not a large group of employers waiting to hire you when you finish.

Career services has input on the curriculum. This sounds like a good idea until they try to teach you three programming languages in 10 hours of class time and expect you to be confident enough to put it on your resume.

 

THE UGLY

The instructor we had might be the most unprofessional individual I have ever met. He told us he was there because he got fired from his previous job and it was obvious why.

The curriculum director and those assisting him have little regard for the quality of the material they push out.

The post bootcamp job assistance was atrocious. The

Learning from Arooj and Justin has been a life-changing experience. Besides picking up Python, SQL, and the many software packages, I really enjoyed completing the projects. Not only when I completed them on my own ahead of time but working with my peers was extremely rewarding. Taking on the large four projects were daunting at first but also meant a lot to me with each different team. Creating the connections with my classmates were important in keeping the class engaging. I had a phenomenal time learning and would highly recommend this course to anyone committed to Data Science. Having previous exposure is recommended.

I have spent a lot of time researching online on how to create my own webApp and found it to be a huge challenge being that there are so many resources online and steps required to complete a full stack webApp. Joining this Bootcamp has allowed me to closely work with the instructor to dive deep into all the necessary steps to creating a webApp. I have also had the chance to work with tutors to help me get through some tough homework assignments. I am more than halfway done with the bootcamp and the knowledge I have already gained is a whole lot! The instructor is very patient and does an amazing job explaining every line of code to ensure his students understand how the functionality works. The guidance is awesome and I definitely suggest anyone looking to learn code to join Rutgers Bootcamp. Even for someone like myself who already had some background knowledge in web development, I learn something new everyday! I highly recommend this course to all beginners, intermediate and even advanced. And to top it off, the career services provided to help prepare for future jobs is incredible. 

When I originally signed up for the Bootcamp, I was extremely nervous.  I had very little coding knowledge and was driven to make a career change.

Throughout the Bootcamp, it was evident that a lot of time and effort went into preparing each class and student assignment.  

Our instructor would give a lesson on a new topic, and we would go into breakout rooms with other students to work on an assignment we just learned.  The instructor then reviewed the assignment with the class to ensure everyone understood the material before moving on to the next topic.

At the start and end of each class were office hours, where we could ask questions and spend time with the instructor and TAs to review any class material to help better understand it.

These 3 months were some of the hardest and longest 3 months i've ever had. I would not have been able to get through it were it not for my amazing Professor, TAs, and tutors. My professor went above and beyond for all of us. He helped us with homework and projects whenever possible and always made sure that we understood the curriculum before moving. It really was a transformative program and im happy I did it and had all the help I did. Im now more confident and ready to start a new career. 

 I recently completed a phenomenal 6-month full stack coding bootcamp that truly made me feel alive. In this immersive program, I mastered MERN applications, JavaScript, HTML, MySQL, and more. The curriculum offered a perfect balance of programming fundamentals, software development, and hands-on client projects. It was truly an empowering journey that provided me with a strong foundation in front-end and back-end development. I'm now confident in my skills and excited about my future in the tech industry. 

I enjoyed taking this course very much and learned a lot from it in such a short time. The 24-week part-time web development course is an excellent course for anyone to become a full-stack web developer. I learned new skills every week. This course definitely requires you to dedicate plenty of time to studying, especially for those who do not have any previous programming experience. In the end, I feel that I have been greatly rewarded with the knowledge and skills that I will need to follow the path of web development. I would highly recommend this course to anyone seeking to advance their career in web development.
