    Coding Saved My Life

I became interested in coding during my time as a music composition major taking computer music classes at UVA, and my interest expanded as my post-college career path lead me to software project managment and basic web production positions. I soon realized that despite my complete and utter lack of belief in my ability to do anything remotely math and science-related, I might actually have a knack for tech. I decided to go with my gut and take the plunge into a tech career by enrolling in...

An experience of a life time

When I started the Bootcamp I was nervous about the amount of work that we were going to be covering in that short of a time, but I quickly realized how easy Trilogy makes it to maintain your workflow. The instructors and TAs are very knowledgeable and helpful. Before I started the Bootcamp, I thought I was a pro at CSS and HTML. Little did I know that my skills were just a scratch on the surface. The class moves fast but if you put in the time, you will definitely be ahead of the game. I ...

    A great experience

I came in to this course not knowing much about coding and I am leaving a very capable full stack developer. It is amazing how much we have been taught in such a short amount of time. Like other have said here though, you will only get as much out of the class how much you out into it. Plan on spending around twenty hours a week outside of class working on assignments and reviewing what was taught in class. If you are not willing to do this you will probably struggle. They offer many resou...

    Best Decision Ever!

If you want to change your life, your earning potential, make valuable connections and learn not only full stack web development, but core things about yourself, I highly recommend spending the time and money on this course. It will be challenging, frustrating, but very rewarding and those "aha" moments are so worth it when they happen.

If I could do it over again, I would not have worked full-time while taking the course. I was prepared for the time commitment it was going to take...

Congratulations on completing the program, Janet! We are thrilled you had such a positive experience learning valuable web development skills. You are correct that individuals will have to dedicate the minimum 20 hours outside of class, sometimes more, to truly master the topics. We designed every facet of our course, from the pre-work to the main curriculum, to help students ranging across various proficiency levels. As each class builds on the previous one, we work to give students the foundation the need to master additional programming languages and concepts post-graduation. It's great to hear you felt confident with every passing week! Our instructional team is passionate about teaching, so we are happy to hear they reassured and supported you whenever you needed it. Thank you so much for your review and for recommending our boot camp. We are cheering you on as you go forward!

Before starting this course, I was certain I wanted to be a web developer. Thank you so much for your review, Graham! You are definitely right in that we start slowly, with the intensity of our program ramping up to advanced, full-stack topics very quickly. Each lesson iteratively builds on the last, and there are no shortcuts to focusing on the basics at first. As such, we are thrilled our instructors and TAs were eager to help and were there to support you. You should be proud of the hard work and long hours you dedicated to learning the course material. Thank you for leaving useful advice for potential students, that is great input!

We are glad to hear our career services team was responsive and insightful. While we do not secure direct employment for students, we work to empower them the best we can with the necessary tools and support for entering the job market, including resume support, 1:1 coaching, and technical interview training. We hope you found these to be helpful. Our program's professional development is designed to provide flexible support, however, it does require students input and is dependent on each individual's career needs. We are constantly updating our career services curriculum and continuously work to provide students with the assistance they need to be successful, so we truly appreciate your feedback. Amazing course, but you have to own it.

This is a fantastic course, and an amazing opportunity, especially for those that are already working full time and looking for a career change.

I had already developed a static webpage, learning html, css and javascript through an online platform, and that piqued my interest in development. Fasten Your Seat Belts

I knew nothing about software development when I started this course. The prework even seemed mindboggling, even though it was psuedo-code and basic html, css, and javascript. Graduated Full Stack Student

Pre-work is too easy and does not reflect actual coursework accurately. I strongly recommend a revision to the prework to better prepare future students.

The material is very challenging for non-coders to handle when dialogue is not a priority. The lexicon used in this environment must be included in the prework.

I place strong emphasis on speaking code because as a job seeker I have experienced less "whiteboard" interviews and more technical conversations as a means of ass...

Thank you for your review, John! We understand this course can be challenging for those with minimal programming knowledge. It is our goal to provide a beneficial learning experience for all of our students, ranging from those individuals who may have more experience to beginners. During the admissions process, we do our best to emphasize the importance of individuals studying on their own before class commences, even more so for those without previous exposure. As such, our pre-work is designed to cover all basic proficiency levels; a useful resource for those with previous knowledge, refreshing what they might already know, as well as preliminary course material for those without experience to get an introduction. We are constantly modifying our pre-work material in order to best prepare students for the challenges they will face during the boot camp, so we truly appreciate your input.

We are also continually working on ensuring students properly understand the latest technical terms, both before and during the course. We understand you would have preferred more allocated time for technical discussions and interview training, and are constantly refining our career services to best help students prepare for the job search, so we thank you for sharing this feedback. We do offer a monthly online tech interview workshop to which all students are invited to attend. Our next upcoming session will take place in June. If you would like additional information, please feel free to reach out to your Career Director.

We do believe that building your professional network is an essential function in furthering your goals and do our best to foster a collaborative atmosphere among classmates. Did you find this to be helpful when it came to sharing projects? We highly encourage our graduates to focus on relationship-building throughout the course (both within the classroom and beyond) as a way to maximize their networking and land the right role. Your Career Director was able to provide you with 1:1 Career Coaching and additional resources for your specific needs. The student experience does not end upon graduation and we hope you are finding our continued professional development support to be beneficial in the early stages of your job pursuit, especially as there is still upcoming career services curriculum yet to be utilized! I'd love to hear from you directly to see what else we can do at this time to best meet your expectations and reinforce your employment search. Please reach out to me at (804) 616-3270. Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review, Sahir! You are definitely right that this program takes perseverance and passion, and we applaud you for all of your hard work during this program. We’re glad to hear that you liked the structure of this course and that our instructors gave you the support you needed. The in-classroom experience is designed to provide students with face-to-face instruction, opportunities to collaborate with peers, and access to maximum assistance and support.

We understand you would have liked to learn more about IP, XHR, and other high-level architecture. As you noted, because we teach such a wide array of technologies in a short amount of time, our curriculum focuses on providing a high level, hands-on understanding of the course material with the goal of individuals expanding upon this knowledge outside of class. However, we are constantly evaluating our curriculum and we use student feedback and market research to make changes regularly, so we truly appreciate you sharing this insight so that we can continue to ensure we're teaching the most in-demand skills. Congratulations on your first job offer! Our career services do not end at graduation, and we look forward to continuing to work with you 1:1.
