Amazing and Fun Experience
The entire experience was just a blast for me. Learning more about how data works and how to analyze said data alongside my classmates really helped instill a lasting impression and is helping me towards sticking to a data heavy career path. Accessible, challenging, inspiring!
I was initially intimidated to undertake this course because of my lack of experience in this immediate field of design. I was relieved upon arriving to find a real mix of people with a range of experience, so I didn't feel so out of place.
We started with an overview of design thinking, gaining an understanding of the key principles underpinning UX design, as well as a bit of the history of how it has developed, and closely related fields and roles such as UI, product design etc....I was initially intimidated to undertake this course because of my lack of experience in this immediate field of design. I was relieved upon arriving to find a real mix of people with a range of experience, so I didn't feel so out of place.
We started with an overview of design thinking, gaining an understanding of the key principles underpinning UX design, as well as a bit of the history of how it has developed, and closely related fields and roles such as UI, product design etc.
My favourite thing about the course was the tutor's continuous encouragement of the class to offer opinions and ideas to engage with the content. I think this is really important when using a 'crash course' format. They created a relaxed atmosphere, and I think we were lucky to have 2 such experienced tutors whose experience we could draw on.
Absorbing all of the content was a big challenge, and I would advise anyone doing the course to make sure you have a bit of time booked in near the end to complete the presentation assignment.
In the final class, I really enjoyed hearing everyone's project concepts, and all though it was slightly nerve-wracking, I think that presenting our work gave us the best experience of the authentic job of a UX designer. A career pivot bootcamp
The Brainstation UX Design Bootcamp was an intensive training program focused on hands-on, project-based learning.
The skills and knowledge needed for me to become a UX designer (such as user research, and information architecture) also taught industry-standard tools and software such as Figma to wireframing, prototyping, and user testing.
I was pleased to attend the program's curriculum which allowed me to apply their newly acquired skills to real-world projects.

Additionally, the instructors were experienced professionals and knowledgeable about the industry and provided valuable insights into the field. It was a great place to create networking opportunities and connect with other professionals in the field.
The program was intense and demanding as it was reaching the Final project deadline, requiring a significant time commitment, time, and a lot of effort.
Cost-wise, the program was totally worth it, overall, the Brainstation UX Design Bootcamp was a valuable investment in my career.

Great experience, definitely worth it
It's an intense 12 weeks you're in for but an amazing experience. You're learning a curriculum that might otherwise take a year or 2 at university. Great instructors and campus environment. Lots of hands-on experience with the assignments and your final capstone project. The camp was great. It's very intense, so I recommend reading ahead first, and doing some prep work on Python and SQL programming, but they cover everything you need if you're dilligent. The instructors look after you. They kept me on track when IO lagged behind. Lots of time but lots of value
I signed up to this course because UX Design is something i've been doing for some years in my day-job as a product manager but it's happened organically and i had no formal qualifications in the area. The course felt quite intense, there is a lot of reading and 'homework' to fit in around a busy day job in a short space of time. Amazing experience
It was hard to decide whether do the bootcamp or not, there are a huge quantity of information on internet about different paths to become a data scientist. I definitely learnt a lot and now I know how keep learning this field, I am very happy about my decision and I'm starting my job searching. - Community: The community was a highlight of the program, and meeting so many interesting people was worth the investment and choosing the in-person option.
- Demo Day: This was a fantastic opportunity to develop presentation skills and expand my network.
Areas for improvement:
- Submission expectations: It would be helpful to receive clearer guidance on the format of submissions, as it often felt like instructors were on different pages. Providing extra guidance on presentation deck formats, as well as real-world presentation deck formats, from the beginning would be appreciated.
- Design systems / Figma skills: While the program covered a lot of ground, I feel that more time could be dedicated to creating components, variations, and auto layouts. As far as I understand so far, these are essential skills for junior designers to have a solid grasp of.
- Employment rates: The program claimed a 90% employment rate, but this seems to be outdated and simply not true. While it is possible to find a position, it takes time, and company claims of high employment rates should be taken with a grain of salt.
Suggestions for future students:
- TAKE A FIGMA COURSE PRIOR TO BOOTCAMP. I saw many students struggling to get a grasp of Figma for many weeks.
- Prepare to put in work. Like, real work. Will get your money's worth.
- If you are an introvert / get anxious about big crowds and being around many folks every single day - maybe consider online or, even better, get comfortable with being uncomfortable and practice being around people.
- Get familiar with the design process prior to taking the boot camp.
- Start thinking about the topic/problem space for your capstone in advance. You will be given a week to come up with a problem space which is very little. Bonus point if you choose an area you are passionate about and would potentially want to work in a similar field.
Overall, I would recommend the full-time program for individuals without many life commitments who can commit 10+ hours a day to the program. Great high-intensity DS bootcamp
Does a great job at teaching a lot in a relatively short timeframe. Do not underestimate the intensity of this bootcamp, it is very intense, particularly in the middle 8 weeks. The instructors are great and bring a lot of real-world experience to the table. The career-help is good, but does tend to have quite an "American" view to it, which can contrast what you understand about how the UK job market works.

Challenging but incredibly rewarding
I left a career in structural engineering to make the switch to data science. I was slightly skeptical of the BootCamp formula before I started. However, I was incredibly impressed with the content, in terms of the breadth of topics covered, and the depth we went into. The instructors were very helpful throughout, bringing great energy to every class. They taught the content in such a way that any prerequisite knowledge was not required.
