The Tech Academy
The Tech Academy is a trade school headquartered in Portland, Oregon that offers full-time and part-time bootcamps online and in-person at their Portland campus. The Tech Academy offers part-time and full-time bootcamps in computer programming, website development, cybersecurity, game development, mobile development, data science, front-end development, tech marketing, and tech sales. The immersive experience aims to create well-rounded technology professionals, and also gives students the option to take the course at their own pace. None of The Tech Academy's bootcamps require any tech background or experience. To apply, applicants need to take an IQ test with logic-based questions (to ensure applicants can read, write and perform basic math), followed by an admissions interview.
The final part of every The Tech Academy bootcamp is the Job Placement Course which covers interviewing skills, resume writing, where to find tech jobs, and gives students access to job placement staff who assist students in landing technical positions.

C#/.NET Developer Bootcamp Remote
I scheduled to attend The Tech Academy March 23rd of 2020, saved up my money, and put my two weeks in at my job to spend 6 months off before the COVID pandemic happened. It was coincidental timing with my plans but worked out in my favor. I moved out to a small town in North Florida and immersed myself in the curriculum. I spent 40+ hours a week studying remotely and pushing myself to take in as much as I could during my work hiatus. It was totally worth it. It can be easy to get distracted or decide to finish early in the day’s work. So make sure you are dedicated to the program. This boot camp was fantastic. It starts you off just clearing up a ton of technical terms that without them you would be lost. Most courses I've seen elsewhere just have you start coding right off the bat. This one gives you all the data you need so by the time you start coding you actually get what you're doing. Having that foundation makes writing code so much easier.

Best Educational Experience of my entire life
Best educational experience of my entire life- I did the Software Developer Bootcamp, absolutely worth my time and money. I was really happy with the quality of the courses, the instructors, and the flexibility of the program. Another thing I liked quite a bit was the progress bar showing how close you are to completing the bootcamp- the dopamine rush that came as you slowly inched closer to 100% was a reward in and of itself. I had a personal emergency and had to take time off of workin...Best educational experience of my entire life- I did the Software Developer Bootcamp, absolutely worth my time and money. I was really happy with the quality of the courses, the instructors, and the flexibility of the program. Another thing I liked quite a bit was the progress bar showing how close you are to completing the bootcamp- the dopamine rush that came as you slowly inched closer to 100% was a reward in and of itself. I had a personal emergency and had to take time off of working on the bootcamp- everyone was extremely accommodating of me and gave me an extension for free- I will eternally be grateful for that. The flexibility of being able to work from home or at the campus was incredible too, I didn't really need to get a ton of help because the course content was that easy to understand, but when I did I asked the instructors who gave me crystal clear responses and were super helpful.
The only thing I didn't like was the job placement course, I found the job placement director to be rude and unprofessional. I could also work from home since all the course are available online. The instructors at Tech Academy are all very accessible and knowledgeable, they've even gone through the program themselves so they know what you are working on. They even have a job placement course that teaches you all you need to know about applying, interviewing, and technical testing to get a job. It was so different and more intense that I can experienced in my previous job searches. The job placement team is amazing at backing you up, giving advice, and just general support. They really want you to succeed!

The course gets increasingly difficult and demands a firm dedication to a schedule in order to complete the curriculum on time. Instructors are typically former students who are friendly, familiar with the material, and very helpful, but not experts in the coding language you are learning so finding answers to problems can be somewhat difficult. Assignments force you to think and work out solutions - much of the time on your own - which is good to a point. My only grumble is that the teaching videos are very unpolished, with no index or menu system, and minimal video controls, which makes it very time consuming to review previous sections or to find or search for talking points. I believe they are working on fixing these issues. The school really cares about your success, however, and is very responsive in helping you with any issues that may be holding you back.

Great Experience
The Tech Academy C# & .NET Framework bootcamp was a great way to get started in the tech industry. I learned all the basics for HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, and C#.
